Illawarra Health Leader Ange Saville Joins Phoenix Health Co

Phoenix Health Co has welcomed respected Illawarra health and wellbeing leader Angela Saville to the team as the organisation prepares to open its preventative healthcare and health optimisation centre at the University of Wollongong Innovation Campus' Bruce Gordon Centre.

A former founder of SAVVY Fitness and long-time advocate for movement, community health and active living, Saville brings almost two decades of experience helping thousands of people improve their health through sustainable movement, education and connection.

Her appointment marks a significant step in Phoenix Health Co’s vision to bring together medicine, movement and recovery in a single integrated model focused on prevention rather than reaction.
Phoenix Health Co co-founder Dr Oscar Horky said Saville’s involvement was a natural fit.

“Ange has built an extraordinary reputation across the Illawarra because she genuinely cares about helping people live healthier, more active lives,” Dr Horky said.

“Throughout my career I’ve treated the consequences of chronic disease and poor health habits. Phoenix was created because we believe we can do better by helping people understand and improve their health before major issues develop.

“Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have in healthcare, yet it’s often disconnected from the medical system. Ange has spent her career helping people move more, feel better and build healthier lifestyles, so her involvement is incredibly exciting for us.”

Phoenix Health Co is being established by Dr Oscar Horky, Dr Meghan Dares, Katie Horky and Wynter Dares, bringing together expertise across medicine, allied health, movement, recovery and lifestyle medicine.

The new centre will offer a range of programs focused on preventative healthcare, health optimisation, healthy ageing, performance, recovery and chronic disease prevention.

A New Chapter for Angela Saville

Saville said she was drawn to Phoenix because of its commitment to addressing health before illness occurs.
"For most of my career I’ve worked with people who want to improve their health, energy and quality of life through movement,” she said.

“What excited me about Phoenix is that it goes beyond traditional healthcare and beyond traditional fitness.

“It’s about bringing the right people together to help individuals better understand their health, move with confidence and create sustainable habits that support long-term wellbeing.

“There is a growing appetite for people to take a more proactive approach to their health and I believe Phoenix is creating something genuinely different for our community.”

Saville founded SAVVY Fitness in 2006 and built it into one of the region's most recognised fitness communities, pioneering large-scale outdoor group fitness programs in the Illawarra.

She has continued working in wellness consulting, community health initiatives, movement programs and major community events, while also developing her Evermoves program, which focuses on helping people improve mobility, resilience and longevity through movement.

Her contribution to community wellbeing has been recognised at both industry and government levels and she remains one of the region’s most influential voices in movement and preventative health.

Bringing Movement and Healthcare Together

“Wynter Dares said Saville’s appointment would help Phoenix create programs that bridge the gap between healthcare advice and real-world action.
"Knowledge alone doesn’t change health outcomes,” Dares said.

“People need support, guidance, accountability and practical strategies that fit their lives.

“Ange understands how to build communities around healthy behaviour and that experience will be invaluable as Phoenix grows.”

Phoenix Health Co is scheduled to open at the Bruce Gordon Centre at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus in July.
