Individual care
Nutrition that fits your life.
A conversation grounded in your needs
A dietitian appointment is time to discuss your health, usual eating patterns and the changes you would like support with. Phoenix’s dietitians have clinical interests in gut health and IBS, women’s health, metabolic health, healthy ageing, weight management and sports nutrition. Mention your main concern when enquiring so the team can explain the available practitioners and which appointment may suit.
The aim is practical, individual advice. Your medical history, preferences, routines and any relevant results help shape the conversation; there is no single eating plan for everyone.
Make your first visit useful
Think about what you want the appointment to help with: understanding a diagnosis, managing symptoms, fuelling activity or making everyday meals more manageable. It can help to note the questions you want to ask and the parts of your routine that are difficult to change.
Bring any relevant referral, recent results or information requested when booking. Tell your dietitian about medicines, supplements, food allergies and previous nutrition advice. You can discuss sensitive health information directly with your practitioner rather than putting it in a general website enquiry.
Support alongside the rest of your care
Nutrition may be one part of a wider plan, alongside medical care and movement. Ask how your dietitian can work with your existing clinicians and what follow-up would be useful. Explore GP consultations, exercise physiology or Phoenix Movement if these are relevant to your goals; each has its own appointments and fees.
You can enquire about an individual dietitian appointment without joining a Phoenix program. Any care already included in a program should be checked with the team before booking separately.
$195 initial · $140 follow-up
Your questions.
What does a dietitian appointment cost?
The listed fees are $195 for an initial appointment and $140 for a follow-up. Call to confirm availability, appointment length and practitioner arrangements. If you are already receiving nutrition support through a Phoenix program, ask what is included before arranging an additional individual appointment.
Which dietitian should I see?
Discuss your priorities when you call. The team also includes Sally-Anne Livock, an Accredited Practising Dietitian, with clinical interests in midlife health and weight management, and Gunny Wiken, a Sports Nutritionist and Accredited Practising Dietitian, with interests in performance, hormone and gut health. Availability and suitability are confirmed individually.
Do I need a referral?
Ask reception about the requirements for the appointment and any claim you intend to make. If a GP or another clinician has referred you, provide the relevant documents as instructed. A referral helps communicate the reason for care; it does not by itself guarantee a Medicare or private-health benefit.
Could a GP chronic condition management plan help with costs?
Eligible patients may be referred for allied health services consistent with a GP chronic condition management plan. Your GP assesses whether dietetic care is appropriate. Check the referral, your eligibility and the available services with your GP and reception before booking, and confirm any amount you would pay yourself.
Are older care plans still recognised?
Qualifying GP Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements made before 1 July 2025 have transition arrangements for consistent services until 30 June 2027. Your GP can check what applies to you. See Services Australia’s current plan requirements.
What about private health rebates and follow-up?
Private health benefits depend on your cover, provider and remaining limits; ask your insurer before your visit. Reception can explain receipts and claiming information. At the appointment, discuss whether follow-up would be useful, what it would focus on and the likely fee, so you can decide on a manageable next step.
