Support for movement and rehabilitation

Physiotherapy starts with the problem you want to work on and the activities you want to return to. Phoenix’s team brings experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic rehabilitation, including recovery after injury or surgery and a return to sport. Common reasons to seek or discuss physiotherapy include sports injuries, back or neck pain, and post-surgical rehabilitation. The appointment is a chance to understand what is happening, agree realistic priorities and explore a plan suited to your circumstances.

Your needs determine the assessment and follow-up. Tell the team about recent surgery, current restrictions or another clinician’s advice when you book.

Your first appointment

Come ready to talk about when the problem began, what makes it better or worse, previous treatment and the practical things it is stopping you from doing. Your physiotherapist can assess relevant movement and discuss the findings with you. The focus is on understanding your starting point and agreeing manageable next steps.

Bring relevant reports or referrals if you have them. Ask the team what clothing and information are useful for your particular appointment, and mention any access or communication needs beforehand.

From rehabilitation to regular movement

A rehabilitation plan needs to fit into life beyond the treatment room. Follow-up can provide time to review progress, discuss difficulties and adjust the approach with your physiotherapist. When appropriate, ask how your care could connect with exercise physiology or Phoenix Movement. These are distinct services, and any additional appointments or membership arrangements should be confirmed before you proceed.

Individual physiotherapy is available without joining a longer Phoenix program. You can start with the appointment relevant to your current concern.

$160 initial · $135 follow-up

Your questions.

What are the appointment fees?

The listed fee is $160 for an initial appointment and $135 for a follow-up. Call to confirm appointment length, availability and the practitioner best suited to your concern. Ask about any separate costs before booking; a listed appointment fee is not a promise of a particular rebate.

Do I need a referral?

Tell reception if you have a referral, care plan, recent operation or treatment instructions from another clinician. Ask whether any documents are needed for your booking or intended claim. Your own circumstances and the funding arrangement determine the requirements; the team can explain what to provide before your visit.

Could Medicare contribute?

Some eligible patients may access allied health rebates through a GP chronic condition management plan and a valid referral. Your GP decides whether the service is appropriate to the plan. Eligibility, available services and the practitioner’s claiming arrangements must be checked; the listed Phoenix fee still needs to be confirmed with reception.

What if I have an older GP Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement?

Services Australia allows care consistent with qualifying plans made before 1 July 2025 to continue under transition arrangements until 30 June 2027. Ask your GP to check your plan and referral. Read the current Services Australia guidance.

Can I claim through private health insurance?

A benefit may be available under your extras cover, depending on the policy, service, provider and remaining limits. Check directly with your insurer before the appointment. Ask reception about receipts and the information needed for a claim; onsite claiming arrangements should be confirmed when you book.

How do I choose between physiotherapy and exercise physiology?

Call and explain your concern, current treatment and what you hope to do. The team can help direct your enquiry to the relevant practitioner. You do not need to decide on a long-term program or gym membership first. Meet the clinical and movement team.
