When most people think about healthcare, they think about appointments, prescriptions or recovering from illness.
Angela Saville sees things differently.
After almost two decades helping thousands of people across the Illawarra improve their health through movement, she believes one of the greatest opportunities in healthcare isn't simply treating disease, it's helping people stay healthy in the first place.
That's one of the reasons Angela has joined Phoenix Health Co.
As Phoenix's Movement & Wellbeing Lead, Angela will help develop movement pathways that complement the clinic's preventative healthcare programs, giving people practical, sustainable ways to improve their long-term health.
More Than Exercise
Throughout her career Angela has worked with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
While every person arrives with a different goal the fundamentals of success rarely change.
The goal may be to run a marathon, improve strength or to simply move and feel better and although there is a specific pathway for each one of these there also requires a good level of commitment, consistency and support to succeed.
It’s these elements that make the goal achievable and enjoyable and at Phoenix this is what we can provide.
Whatever the goal, it is undeniably clear that movement simply improves quality of life and is a key preventative for chronic disease and illness.
Small Changes Create Lasting Results
Angela believes one of the biggest misconceptions around health is that meaningful change requires dramatic action.
Instead, she encourages people to focus on consistency.
Sustainable habits.
Regular movement.
Supportive environments.
Realistic goals.
"People don't need perfection," she says.
"They need confidence, guidance and a plan they can maintain."

Why Phoenix?
For Angela, Phoenix represents something she has believed for many years.
Movement shouldn't exist separately from healthcare.
It should be part of it.
By bringing together medical practitioners, health professionals and movement specialists under one roof, Phoenix creates opportunities for people to better understand their health and receive practical support to improve it.
"Medicine and movement aren't competing ideas," Angela says.
"They're strongest when they work together."
Looking Ahead
As Phoenix prepares to open at the Bruce Gordon Centre, Angela is excited about helping people take a more proactive approach to their health.
"Preventative healthcare isn't about waiting for something to go wrong," she says.
"It's about giving people the knowledge, confidence and support to stay healthy, active and independent for as long as possible."
Because moving well isn't just about fitness.
It's about living well.
